[Discover the Heart of the Mountains on DVD]

Roy Hurd and Chris Shaw, two of the Adirondack region's most acclaimed performers, serve as the headliners for the first two episodes of Heart of the Mountains, a new series featuring Adirondack singers & songwriters.

Filmed during live performances at the Ndakinna Education Center located in the foothills town of Greenfield Center, both shows combine on-stage performance with in-depth performer interviews that get to the very heart and soul of their music.

With instrumental accompaniment by John Kirk, another of Northern New York's best-loved musicians, both presentations are just a first step toward showcasing the breadth and depth of folk and traditional music inspired by the Adirondacks in future episodes.

This project is the vision of the non-profit Ndakinna Education Center Director and Ontrack's Executive Producer James Bruchac. After filming the two events, Jim felt they deserved a wider audience than merely offering them for sale as DVDs would provide. Having been featured himself (along with Chris Shaw) on WMHT's acclaimed Adirondack Storytellers show, Jim felt strongly that finding a PBS audience was the natural step to take and that no station was better suited to premiere these pilot productions than Mountain Lake PBS.

Also featured during these premieres will be live performances by Roy Hurd and John Kirk, additional background information, and sneak previews of a few future projects, as well as interviews with Ontrack Executive Producer James Bruchac.
